Happy Lunar New Year, Snake (2025) 蛇年吉祥
Wednesday Jan 29th mark the beginning of Lunar New Year that is celebrated among Asians around the world. According to the traditional Calendar, this Year the elemental sign is wood, and it does not coincide with the solar term the beginning Spring which it often does. A chance to celebrate springs twice makes 2025 unique. It also means a much colder period going into the Spring season as we are experiencing right now. Celebration starts the day before and last until February 12th for a total of 16 days. Visiting friends and families, passing out red envelop, and fine dining are just few of the fun things done around New Year.
Snakes symbolize transformation, ease of navigation, intuition, and renewal. 2025 will be full of challenges but at the same time, it presents with many opportunities and hopes. Growing pain is a good analogy to snake as it sheds its out skin, it grows and matures. Snake energetic usually associate with wealth and prosperity, as one grow, good fortune and happiness will follow those who are willing to meet and adapt to changes. The element of Wood enhances the quality of transformation and renewal, which put this year a year of major transformative year. A shift out of the comfort zone for some is needed to find even greater happiness.
After the Solar Term, Big Chill, and into the New Year it is important to continue to keep warm especially in such cold weather. However, as the day light lengthen each day, get a start with gentle exercises and stretching to activate the body. Warming food such as turmeric, ginger is great way to warm up quickly as one step back in from to the cold. Put few slices of fresh Ginger in your tea or just make some Ginger root tea with dash of cinnamon, cardamom, or nutmeg will be a great way to warm up the body. Area exposed in the cold needed to be covered and sometime a mask can dampen the effect of cold air on your lungs. This is the time to celebrate the end of the Winter and start of the Spring soon to come.
