Grain Rain

Grain Rain (谷雨) marks the arrival of steadily warming weather as spring rains nourish the earth and bring vegetation into full bloom. It is the sixth and final solar term of spring, signifying nature’s preparation for the harvest ahead. Much like the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” this season embodies renewal and the blossoming of life.

During this time, patience is essential. As liver energy reaches its peak, the rising yang and warmer temperatures can stir up suppressed emotions, potentially leading to irritability or conflict. It is advised to refrain from anger and maintain harmony in relationships.

To balance this surge in liver activity, it is beneficial to nourish the Earth element, supporting the body's ability to regulate the liver’s robust energy. Due to increased humidity, it's also helpful to include foods that transform dampness, such as almond, lotus root, poria, Chinese yam, lotus seed, pueraria root (kudzu), and Gordon Euryale seed
